Chapter History

You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every chapter of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today. Read more about our chapters’ histories in Kappa's digital archives.

Kappa Psi Delta was a local chapter founded in 1998 that spent 13 years at NYU. In April 2011, the women of KPsiD decided to affiliate with Kappa Kappa Gamma. On November 5th, 2011, our chapter was installed as KKG’s 138th chapter and 20 active members were initiated to become the Eta Pi charter class. In the six years since our installation, we have grown to be an organization of over 160 women.

In the last 6 years, we have had sisters involved in every level of Fraternity and Sorority Life, including the Inter-Greek and Panhellenic Councils. At the annual FSL Awards, Kappa Kappa Gamma has won...

2018: Chapter of the Year, Chapter President of the Year

2017: Outstanding Community Involvement

2016: Most Improved Chapter

2015: Outstanding Academic Achievement, Housing Representative of the Year

2014: Housing Representative of the Year

2013: Outstanding Recruitment, Outstanding Alumna Advisor, Sorority Woman of the Year

Of Kappa's 140 chapters, Eta Pi was incredibly honored to receive the designation of Most Outstanding Chapter of the Biennium (2014-2016) at the Kappa Kappa Gamma General Convention in June 2016. We are so proud and humbled to have been given this award! We were also recognized with Honorable Mentions for the following awards: Chapter/Advisory Board Relations Award, Academic Excellence Award, Sally Moore Nitschke Lifelong Education Award, Public Relations Award, Standards Award and Excellence in Chapter Management Award.

With origins from all over the world and from a variety of diverse backgrounds, we are bonded by the shared values of Kappa Kappa Gamma. We are a fiercely ambitious, intelligent and compassionate group of women who balance the rigorous academics of New York University with the thrilling, fun opportunities that New York City has to offer. Serving as a vital support system and community for each other, the Eta Pi chapter is our foundation for endless success.
